Cryogenic Gas User Workshop ...
Duration: 3 Hours
Cryogenic liquids are particularly hazardous. Their high liquid to gas ratios presents a genuinely serious risk of asphyxiation.
A 1.5 hour classroom module is also available for delegates attending the PGS Industrial / Laboratory Gas User Workshops.
This workshop provides theoretical & optional practical training to assist in reducing these risks; it concentrates on the key safety issues for personnel who are involved in the handling, storage or use of cryogenic gases.
Classroom 3 hours:
- User behaviour & perceptions
- Incident case study
- Gas properties
- Hazards caused by cryogen - cold ; asphyxiation ; oxygen enrichment; pressure
- Carbon dioxide & dry ice
- Functions of pressurised vessels
- Dewars
- Ice plugs
- Cryogen in lifts
- Oxygen enrichment & deficiency
- Cryogenic spillage & emergency
- procedures
- Embrittlement
- PPE
- First aid
Practical decanting (time dependent upon procedure):
The trainer will oversee this task performed by an experienced operator to ensure compliance with current safe procedures & practice. This optional practical element is offered at no extra charge in conjunction with either the workshop or module.
